The Construction Systems Engineering program looks at the big picture as it tries to understand where human beings are headed. What kinds of community, civilization, and culture will Japan build on its geographical and social foundations? What designs or methods can we discover to make our ideals a reality? This is a comprehensive program that looks at engineering from a broad perspective—not only in terms of human activity, but also in the historical contexts of local communities and the global community. What are the various facilities and construction technologies we need to create our cultural ideals in our future society? Protect ourselves from natural disaster? Conserve the environment and offer reliable social services? Civil Structure and Materials Science

Structural analysis, steel structure, concrete technology, reinforced concrete technology, seismic engineering
Key features
Students acquire tools for analyzing the mechanical properties of civil engineering structures based on the theories of elasticity and plasticity while also learning the characteristics of the steel and concrete materials that make up these structures and the dynamics and structural properties of reinforced concrete structures. They then study and research technologies that can take the elastic and earthquake-resistant designs of these structures to the next level.
Geo-environmental Design

Key features
Students learn to accurately access the fundamental physical and mechanical properties behind the various facilities that make up civil engineering works, formulate facility usage and site plans in full consideration of cost efficiency, and study and research survey, planning, and design technologies that allow them to maintain the safe, community-wide systems from the perspective of seismic resistance.
Geo-environmental Ecology

Key features
Living in harmony with our natural environment is the modern challenge of civil engineering. Students are given the tools to meet this challenge by focusing primarily on rivers and other aquatic environments, using hydraulics, hydrology, and other perspectives to identify the human-driven changes to abiotic environments that result from civil engineering projects and then engaging in comprehensive study and research of technologies to establish construction methods that fully consider wildlife from an ecological perspective.

Key features
Students evaluate the dynamic characteristics of various structures as well as the structural materials of which they are made, engaging in study and research of static and dynamic design technologies rooted in structural safety.

Key features
This area of study considers the various structures that make up societies as a cultural whole—as living functional systems. Students study and research the urban, regional, and architectural design and planning technologies needed to come up with creative proposals for future community living spaces within a historical context.

Environmental engineering, building equipment technologies
Key features
This area of study considers the physical, chemical, and biological aspects of a community’s natural environment as a total system along with the human-made environment that makes organic use of these aspects of it. Students take a comprehensive approach to the study and research of the technologies that make up human-friendly building equipment and make it possible to create architectural environments for living and manufacturing that meet new social demands.
