History of Our University

Our University began with the Nagoya Training School of Electricity founded in 1912.

Opening of Jiyugaoka Campus in Nagoya
Completion of Building No. 1
2009
  • Faculties, departments and majors restructured to create three faculties and seven departments with a total of 14 majors.
  • Faculty of Engineering expanded to five majors, comprised of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Electrical Engineering Major, Electronics and Information Network Major), Department of Applied Chemistry (Applied Chemistry Major, Biomaterials and Environmental Chemistry Major), Department of Mechanical Engineering (Mechanical Engineering Major, Mechanical Creative Design Major), Department of Urban Environment major (Civil Engineering Major), and Department of Architecture (Architecture Major, Architectural Design Major).
  • Faculty of Business Administration expanded to one Department of Business Administration and three majors (Management and Information Systems Major, Business Management Major, Sports Management Major).
  • Faculty of Information Science expanded to Department of Information Science and two majors (Computer System Major, Media Information Major)

Graduate of School of Engineering Master's Course renamed from Production System Engineering Course to Mechanical Engineering Course

  • Establishment of Graduate School Business Administration and Information Science Course, and establishment of Master's and Doctorate's Business Administration and Computer Science Courses.
  • Opening of Motoyama Campus in Nagoya
  • Opening of Regional Disaster Prevention Research Center
  • Completion of Building No. 13 (Mechanical Science/Business Administration and Information Science Department)

The Faculty of Engineering is comprised of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Electrical Engineering Course, Electronics Course, Information Network Engineering Course), Department of Applied Chemistry (Applied Chemistry Course), Department of Mechanical Engineering (Mechanical Engineering Course, Intelligent Mechanical Engineering Course), and Department of Urban Environment (Civil Engineering Course, Architecture Course, Environmental Engineering Course). The Faculty of Management and Information Science is comprised of the Department of Applied Information Science (Management Systems Course, Software Science Course), and Department of Marketing and Information Systems (Marketing and Information Systems Course)
